Howdy! Here is a simple/beginner build for a "Thor" wood mallet - but with a twist as they include burned/charred handles for a cool effect. I cut out a pattern of the center wood (Poplar) and then glued two accent blocks out of Jatoba and Wenge on each side. Using a propane torch I burned the handles, added some leather (actually suede) and encased them in resin epoxy for durability. After some sanding and finishing with tung oil, they were ready for whacking things. Now I just need to find a few spiders or siblings to test them out.
