For over 125 years, the Oregon Historical Society has preserved Oregon’s history through its collections, library, educational programs, exhibitions, and scholarship. As we near our 125th anniversary in 2023, Curator of Exhibitions Megan Lallier-Barron has been engrossed in our archives, working to develop an exhibition that tells our story — a tall order for an institution whose mandate for over a century has been to collect and preserve Oregon’s history.

“Our Unfinished Past: The Oregon Historical Society at 125,” opening on January 13, 2023, will feature objects, photographs, manuscripts, and more from our museum and library collections that highlight diverse voices from Oregon’s past, the many people who have entrusted their stories to our care, and those who have worked to preserve those stories for over twelve decades. Lallier-Barron introduces a new video series, “Curator Chats,” where she gives viewers a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the making of this exhibition.
