Sonam Wangchuk's indefinite hunger strike has entered its 8th day at Delhi's Ladakh Bhawan, where he and his supporters are pressing the Centre to resume discussions on their demand for Ladakh's inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. Wangchuk began his fast on Sunday and has called for supporters to join a day-long fast on October 13. Leading the 'Delhi Chalo Padyatra' organized by the Leh Apex Body, he and his supporters previously marched from Leh to Delhi, facing detention at the Singhu border on September 30 before their release by the Delhi Police on October 2. Wangchuk is now urging a meeting with top leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to address their concerns for Ladakh’s rights and governance.
