When one thinks about traditional English food, non-English noses will be turned up in disgust, apathy or jealousy. Fish and chips, roast dinner, pie and mash, sausages, pork pies, sausage rolls, Cornish pasties, pease pudding, potted shrimp, full English breakfast, toad in the hole, shepherd's pie or cottage pie, trifle, scones, Eton mess, sticky toffee pudding, Victoria sponge cake, Cheddar, Stilton, Red Leicester and Double Gloucester cheese are just a few delectably English food items. However, today's video is about the former King of breakfasts, the infamous smoked herring or kipper, and the quintessentially English village, harbour and smokehouse of Craster on the wild and rugged Northumberland Heritage Coast of North East England, UK. Craster kippers were Queen Elizabeth 2's favourite breakfast, and kippers from Robson's smokehouse regularly tickled her tastebuds and broke the fast.
