ARCA OF TOTOK KEROT AND DVARAPALA SINGOSARI

The Totok Kerot statue is quite famous in Kediri, in the form of a nearly 3 meter tall statue. This statue has a giant face and is associated with many legends and myths. One of them is associated with Sri Aji Joyoboyo, the king who is believed to be the reason for the emergence of this statue.

But Totok Kerot is not the only giant statue in Java. For example, in Singosari, Malang, there is a very large dvarapala statue, known as Dvarapala Singosari. These Dvarapala are in pairs, and it is still not known for which guardian of the building. This andesite statue is enough to reveal the high details of the sculptural art of the Singhasari-Majapahit period.

In this video, Assisi not only examines the two statues, but also several Dvarapala statues at Sewu Temple, Plaosan and others. And by making a comparison between these statues, we get a complete picture of the Dvarapala statue, including the myths behind its existence.
