MONKEY AROUND PATTERN - BENDABLE LIMBS & TAIL
Size: 5”
Material:
3mm needles
2 small balls of (D) dark colour, black, brown
or dark grey or your colour of choice
1 small ball of (L)white, beige or lighter colour
Darning needles
Polyester stuffing
6 black or brown pipe cleaners
Black embroidery thread
Embroidery needle
Hot glue gun

Gauge 4.5sts and 6.5 rows = 1”

Cut four middle strands of yarn
Row 37: purl
Row 38: (k1, k2tog) to end (20sts)
Row 39: p
Row 40: (k2tog) to end (10sts)
Cut yarn leaving 12” and thread yarn through remaining sts. And take off needle and cinch up and fasten off.
Sew up back seam.
Stuff body and head and sew remaining seam.
Thread yarn through cast on stitches, pull tight and fasten off.
Take 12” piece of yarn and thread around neck, Cinch up tight to form head and fasten off. Sew in loose ends.
SNOUT:
(D) cast on 12sts
Rows 1-2: st-st beg k
Row 3: (k2tog) to end (6sts)
Cut off yarn leaving 12”, thread through remaining sts and take off needle.Pull up tightly and fasten off
Sew up edges and add a bit of stuffing.
Sew onto head below eyes
EARS: make 2
(D) cast on 8 sts
Row 1: p
Row 2 (k2tog) to end (4sts)
Cut yarn leaving 12” and thread through remaining sts and take off needle.
Cinch up and fasten off.
Sew ears on each side at eye level.
EYES & SNOUT: Use black embroidery floss to make black ovals in the white portion of eyes & lines for snout
ARMS & LEGS make 4
(D) Cast on 6 sts.
Rows 1-24: st-st, beg k
Cut off (D) leaving 18” tail for sewing later. Attach (L) yarn
Row 25: (k1,kfb) to end (9sts)
Row 26-28: st-st beg p
Row 29: (k2tog) twice, k1 (k2tog) twice (5sts)
Cut yarn leaving 8” to sew paw
Thread yarn through sts on needle and remove and fasten off.
Fold 1 pipe cleaner in half. Twist together. Cut to the same length as limb. Place a dob of hot glue on end to enclose sharp wires.
Place shorter yarn strands in middle of limb. Use longer light strand to sew paw. Sew rest of paw with dark yarn. Sew onto body.
TAIL
(D) Cast on 30 sts
Row 1-4 st-st, beg k
Cast off. Leave 18” of yarn for sewing.
Twist 2 pipe cleaners together. Cut to fit tail. Place a dob of hot glue on both sharp wire ends.
Place pipe cleaner inside tail and sew side seam together. Sew to back and bottom of monkey body.
