Surah / Koran Maryam (marie) Wonderful Soothing and Relaxing Recitation to listen to during the day or before sleeping to soothe the heart

📌 Surah Maryam or Mary occupies the 19th place in the traditional order of the descent of the Koran. Composed of 98 verses, it was proclaimed in Mecca. Its name refers to Mary, the mother of Jesus of Nazareth, whose sura mentions her story. Indeed, the verses expose the announcement made to Zechariah and Mary about the birth of Jesus, as well as the miracle of Jesus speaking in the cradle to defend the purity of Mary. The sura also evokes the history of Prophets like Abraham, Moses, Idris and Ishmael.

Proclaimed during the Makkan period of Muhammad's prophecy (peace and blessings of God be upon him), Sura Mary occupies the 44th place in the chronological order of revelations just after Sura Fatir or The Creator.

Context of his revelation

According to the theme of the sura, the latter was proclaimed before the journey of a group of the Prophet’s companions (peace and blessings of God be upon him) to Abyssinia. Indeed, after the emigration of some Muslims in Abysinia, Jafar Ibn Abi Talib recited the first verses of the sura which tells the story of Mary, in front of the Christian king of Abyssinia, when he invited them to his court. .

Revealed at the same time as Surah Al Kahf, a period during which the Quraish leaders understood that neither their mockery nor slander will succeed in putting an end to this Islamic movement. To eradicate this phenomenon, the disbelievers have resorted to persecution and economic embargoes of all Muslims. So they decided to hunt down the Muslims and tried to force them to abandon Islam, by torturing them.

After the recounting of the story of the Prophets Jesus and John the Baptist, which spans the first forty verses, we find in verses 41 to 50, the story of Prophet Abraham which is briefly discussed. These verses helped to console the emigrants who followed in Abraham’s footsteps by leaving their homeland because of the persecution they faced. Moreover, these verses form a warning to the disbelievers of Mecca by criticizing their hostile behavior from verse 66 to 98.
