Hi Explorers,
My name is Curtis Brewer and Welcome to Adventure Brewing.
• Crater Lake National Park in Oregon has been on my buck list of places to visit for a very long time. So, I was excited to Visit and explore the park.
• Crater Lake is located in the Cascade Range in southwestern Oregon, about 65 miles northeast of Medford and 40 Miles north of Klamath Falls which is where we stayed during our visit.
• The park is open year-round, but many roads and facilities close during the winter. Fall is a beautiful time to visit, with cool nights and fewer crowds. Summer is a good time to see wildflowers and access park trails.
• WE were there in early June and after a hard winter most rim road was still closed and the trail was still covered with snow. But it was beautiful.
• We pot on our Ice cleats grab our hiking polls and went for a hike on the Discovery Point Trail.
• The lake is known for its deep, blue color, and is the deepest in the United States and one of the deepest in the world.
• With a depth of 1949 ft (594m) the lake is extremely clear, you can see to an average depth 102 ft below the surface.
• The lake was formed 7,700 years ago when a violent eruption of Mount Mazama caused the volcano's upper portion to collapse.
• The park includes the caldera, which is a 6-mile-wide crater, Wizard Island, a 764-foot cinder cone, rises from the bottom of the lake as well as the surrounding hills and forests.
