Insurance company Old Mutual has been at the receiving end of a social media storm over a customer, Sebabatso Molefi's complaint. Molefe alleges that Old Mutual defied a court order to release her mother's pension funds. The post went viral on X, with over a million reposts and several comments that contained other complaints from social media users. Old Mutual director for Strategy, People, Sustainability and Public Affairs Celiwe Ross says they do pay and fulfill their promises to customers. She says over the last year they paid more than R49 billion worth of claims.
