What an eventful two-day pow wow at Coconino High School! The day before, I was at The Huhugam "May the Fourth Be With You" Social Pow Wow in Southern Chandler AZ with my friend and MC, Trevor Foster. Due to the drop in temperatures and wild winds, they wisely decided to move the pow wow from outside into the school's gymnasium. And boy, was that a smart move! Shortly after the pow wow ended, it started raining, and within 15 minutes, it was hailing outside!

Entry fee was $7, and I paid in cash, although I'm not sure if they accepted card payments. They stamped the middle of my wrist, presumably so I wouldn't wash it off and could reenter the event as needed.

Moving the event from the football field to the gym did affect the audio system, resulting in some muffled sound as it bounced around the gym. Nonetheless, the performances were still audible and enjoyable. Overall, it was a fantastic pow wow, and I'm grateful to have attended, especially with my mom by my side.

There were several special performances, including hand drum singing, sweetheart's couples dance, red dress dance (symbolizing missing and murdered Indigenous peoples), and a switch dance. Despite the video being three hours long, it's packed with amazing pow wow dances!

Coconino High School truly outdid themselves, and I'm already looking forward to spending my weekend at this pow wow next year!
