The Eastern Navajo Fair held its annual parade in Crownpoint, New Mexico. The parade started at the Crownpoint Middle School and ended at the Crownpoint Chapter House. The roads on the parade route were blocked off by police and crowded with parked cars as everyone tried to park as close as possible to the parade. Before the barricades were placed, some were able to park their vehicles on the sidewalks along the parade route.
In the video, you can hear children playing and families laughing as we watched the homemade floats go by. The floats ranged from vans and work trucks to cattle trailers, all tailored to showcase their theme or person of interest. Some floats were political, encouraging the public to vote. Others were honoring their pow wow princesses. Many floats were from companies handing out free potatoes and flour, and the majority were giving out candy. I noticed an unusual amount of Cracker Jack boxes being given out to the families; maybe Bashas had a sale.
This was my first time attending the Eastern Navajo Fair's Parade, and I can't wait to come back next year. Maybe I'll bring a platform so people don't unknowingly stand in front of my camera.

After the parade was over, I headed over to The Eastern Navajo Fair's Pow Wow! That video is coming NEXT 😁
