RAMON REMEDIOS, English tenor (9 May 1940-18 June 2021)
It is a year since the tenor Ramon Remedios left us. For over thirty years he appeared frequently with WNO, ENO, Covent Garden, in many European opera houses and in the US, where his roles included Alfredo, Rodolfo, Don José, Pinkerton and Lensky. A versatile singer, he was also a regular guest on Friday Night is Music Night singing a wide range of music from opera, operetta and shows to the classical song repertoire. This 1980s broadcast is in remembrance of a “Vibrant yet gentle man with the most wonderful voice, a voice to make your heart sing.”
