Deep in the mountains in the southeastern part of Fukui Prefecture, there is a prefectural road called the Otani Akio Ono Line. There are no houses along the road, and no main roads connecting it, so it is a road that runs through a truly unexplored area.
This time, I drove this prefectural road from the end to the start. Since it took a long time to record, I will release it in two parts.
The first release is the section that branches off from National Route 157 and goes to the summit, Ise Pass. It goes through the valley of the Mana River, and along the way, there is the Sasaogawa Dam. The area was once an independent local government called Nishitani Village, which had a population of 1,605 in 1960, but the village was forced to leave due to the construction of a dam and several disasters, and it was completely abandoned in 1969.
Although the road has been partially improved, it is a narrow road with almost one lane, and there are many places where there are no guardrails (or they are broken), so driving is required to be careful.
