National Route 417 runs from Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture to Minami Echizen Town, Fukui Prefecture.

This road was designated a national highway by the Japanese government in 1982, but the section spanning Gifu Prefecture and Fukui Prefecture was divided. In November 2023, a new tunnel was opened, and the entire route was opened.
