Hello friends, so this was our second day in Meerut and I was all excited to taste some more flavours and Street Food of this historic city.
My first stop was at "Kansal Shudh Mishthan Bhandar" again. I had missed out on delicious Kachori Sabzi on my last visit here so I had to come back here. My visit was worth it as I had the most delicious Kachori served with 3 vegetarian dishes. They serve this delightful breakfast with aaloo ki sabzi, chole and pumpkin/kadu/kashifal ki sabzi. It was a real hearty and perfect breakfast.
After this our second stop was in the Police Lines area where there are a number of carts selling only Rajma Chawal and Kadi Chawal. They serve Rajma or Kadi on a bed of rice and top it up with some onions, chaat masala and a chutney made by crushing some roasted local red chillies. And all this combined together took these delicacies to a different level altogether.
Next on our list was 'Yogi Chaat Centre'. This place is so popular in Meerut that people just keep saying "Joh yahaan ek baar khaaye woh baar baar aaye". This small roadside placed serves just two dishes, the Muradabadi Dal and the Mutter Chaat along with buttered roomali roti and kulcha's. The Dal was a simple boiled Moong dal but the toppings that include chutneys, masalas, coriander leaves, ginger and green chillies just made this simple dal heavenly. Same goes for the Mutter Chaat. Still can't forget the taste.
Now friends after having so much to eat, it was time to end the day with some sweet and chilled lassi. We came to Ghantaghar and had a 5 layer lassi at "Famous Lassi". The lassi had layers of rabri, malai. makhan and almonds. Served in a kulhad, it was just perfect.
