On July 12, 2008, Jenna Hewitt and her friends were walking by the beach when they stumbled across a dead body. It wasn’t of any animal they could identify. It looked like a four-legged animal with a beak.

Pictures of this corpse went viral, and the animal was dubbed the Montauk Monster, after Montauk, New York. No one was able to identify the animal, and its body vanished before samples were taken.

Who took it?...No one knows.

More importantly, what was it, and where did it come from? Residents suspected that it was the result of experiments taking place at the nearby Plum Island.

And the residents had a good reason to believe that.
