SERMON NOTES
ROMANS 8:31-38

ACTS 27:1-27 // HEBREWS 6:19 WE are facing a new strand of an OLD VIRUS—we are NOT FACING A NEW ENEMY--- 2 TIMOTHY 1:7 there is so much talk about how this is new… VIRUSES have been around for a long time---sickness---plagues---death is not new… DEATH is an old foe… WE are being faced with a CANCEL CULTURE--- a society that screams CANCEL EVERYTHING even if it poses no threat--- this demanding, this anger, this mob like shouting--- is a spirit… a spirit of fear, a spirit of panic, a spirit of pandemonium… the toilet paper is gone everywhere… WHERE IS THE HOPE? WHERE IS THE PEACE??? I meet so many people who feel DEMORALIZED by the VIRUS that’s AROUND US--- where is the HOPE--- the HOPE that EACH OF US HAVE is not in WHO GOVERNS us or WHAT LAWS ARE PASSED or whether our nation does great things or when this virus disappears---our HOPE IS IN the POWER OF GOD working through the hearts of people---and that’s where our hope is in this country, and in this life… --Peace is not circumstantial. Be assured, He is with you in whatever you face, in the turmoil and struggles, amidst the anxious thoughts and the worries of life. “Do not fear.” /// Isaiah 26:2 says that God will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on him… When we pray we fix our mind on God in the middle of the chaos and in the middle of life’s painful situations or stressful moments… --BE STILL AND KNOW THAT HE IS GOD---Psalm 46:10---GOD IS NOT SURPRISED BY YOUR STORM---
-- defining panic-- sudden uncontrollable fear or anxiety, often causing wildly unthinking behavior.

----PEACE comes when we STOP trying to BE IN CONTROL –

----PEACE comes when we KNOW WHOSE WE ARE

---PEACE comes from BEING IN HIS PRESENCE
----PEACE comes by TRUSTING IN HIS PROMISES

----PEACE comes when we’re ANCHORED in HIS LOVE

----PEACE comes when our EYES are on JESUS

---PEACE comes when we PRAISE & WORSHIP
----PEACE comes when we PRAY
How do we access this peace- How do we keep this peace? Here’s HOW (Philippians 4:6-9 NLT) ---Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

---PEACE comes when we WALK in COMPASSION-- we lose our peace when we get self-focused--- what about me---when our eyes are on ourselves and not on God or on being a LIGHT to others around us—we become more overwhelmed.

---MY HOPE is not in this boat, in this circumstance, in the government---NO MY HOPE IS IN GOD—
