Update 2/2022, I have read that these mud pots and the road there are mostly under water now. Original: SE corner of the Salton Sea. 33°13'06.4"N 115°36'09.1"W An incredible example of mud pots. 2WD is fine, but you do need a little clearance (any SUV should make it). The main "road" here has some surface mud on it, but is hard packed. There are a few sandy sections, but nothing bad. There are some decent mud pots not too far away off a main road (passenger car friendly) at Davis Rd and Schrimpf Rd.
