In this Physics video in Hindi for Class 12 we explained what Root Mean Square (RMS) current in AC (alternating current) is. We also derived the formula for RMS current and RMS voltage in AC. This topic is from Chapter 7 : 'Alternating Current' for Class 12 from NCERT.

RMS or root mean square current / voltage of the alternating current / voltage represents the d.c. current / voltage that dissipates the same amount of power as the average power dissipated by the alternating current/voltage.

For sinusoidal oscillations, the RMS value equals peak value divided by the square root of 2.
