This farmhouse end table build is a fun DIY weekend project! This small side table with a drawer can be used next to the couch, recliner, or bed. It is an easy build for the beginner woodworker, using pocket hole joinery, and a glue-up stained top. Watch the video to see how I built it, and see below for a cut list, tools, supplies, and detailed step by step directions on how to build this beautiful low cost end table. Please comment below or on my youtube channel if you have any questions.

STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO BUILD A FARMHOUSE END TABLE:
(To see the complete directions go to: https://brattonbuilt.com/farmhouse-en...

You can do this!! I am so happy with how this end table turned out even though it was one of my first furniture projects ever. I know I could have explained things better in the video. So, I’m hoping these directions will be easier to follow. If you have any question, please leave a comment here or on the Bratton Built youtube channel.

PREP FOR THE ASSEMBLY OF END TABLE:

1. Start by making all the cuts for the build from the cut list above.
2. Time to whip out the pocket hole jig! Drill pocket holes on all four 1×6 boards, all four 1×2’s for the shelf frame, the other 1×2 that will be used as the drawer stop, and the bottom of the shelf (I over did it here, two holes on each edge would have been plenty.)
Note: I used Z-Clips to connect the top. Another option would be to use pocket hole screws. If you choose to use pocket hole screws then now would be the time to drill pocket holes into the top long edges of the 1×6 pieces.
Note: There should be five 1×2’s in this picture. I got carried away!!
3. Next add the tapered bottom to the legs. For the tapers, all four legs will be cut identically. On each leg cut an angled edge off the bottom of two adjacent sides. (I know that sounds really confusing!). Check out the Farmhouse End Table video @ 1:42 to help clarify.
4. Prep edges of the three 1×6 boards for the table top. These boards will be glued together and need to have very smooth clean edges for that glue to hold tight. I used a little jig to get nice straight edges, but just using the table saw fence will make a clean enough edge for this glue up. I love this jig and use it all the time. It’s not only great for glue ups, it comes in handy whenever a longer angled cut is needed.

FARMHOUSE END TABLE ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS:
MAIN BODY:
Start by attaching the back and both side 1×6’s to the legs using plywood and shims as a spacer to get boards lined up. Line the boards up, then glue, clamp, and fasten with 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws. The 90 degree drill bit adaptor works great for this.

2. Next attach the drawer stop 1×2 to the edge of the front 1×6’s using pocket hole screws.
3. Now glue and fasten the front and back shelf frame 1×2 pieces using the shelf plywood as reference to get a good fit.
4. Then fasten one side frame 1×2 piece.
5. Next fasten the plywood shelf piece to the front, back, and one side frame pieces. (Save that other side frame piece for last, because it makes it easier to line all the pieces up.)
