We’re back with Chef Tutor Becca McGonagle as she teaches you how to bake a simple, no fuss lemon drizzle cake using Essential Waitrose ingredients.

Light and fluffy with a delicate crumb, this soft sponge soaks up the zingy syrup to intensify the lemon flavour. Play around with other fruits such as limes, oranges or even clementines too, using thinly sliced zest as a simple yet decorative finishing touch.

100g unsalted butter, softened, plus extra for greasing
150g golden caster sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
150g self-raising flour
3 tbsp whole milk
2 lemons, zest and juice
