Wenlock Priory, located in Much Wenlock, Shropshire, England, is a historical site with origins that trace back to the Anglo-Saxon period. Originally established as a monastery by King Merewalh of Mercia around 680 AD, the site underwent significant transformation when it was re-founded as a Cluniac priory in 1080 by Roger de Montgomery, the Earl of Shrewsbury.

The priory's architecture is distinguished by its blend of Norman and Gothic styles. Key features include the impressive ruins of the church, with its strikingly tall arcades, ornate chapter house, and the finely detailed Lavatorium, where monks performed their ritual washings.

The beautifully sculpted remains of the prior's lodging and the cloister give a vivid impression of the priory's once thriving religious community. Wenlock Priory prospered for centuries as a center of worship and learning until it was dissolved in 1540 during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII.
