महाराष्ट्रात कोरडवाहू भागातील मध्यम जमिनीत ४८ टक्के क्षेत्रावर रब्बी ज्वारीची लागवड होते. या क्षेत्राचा विचार करून महात्मा फुले कृषी विद्यापीठाच्या ज्वारी सुधार प्रकल्पाने मध्यम जमिनीसाठी जास्त उत्पादन देणारा ‘फुले सुचित्रा’ हा वाण विकसित केला आहे. हा वाण १२०-१२५ दिवसांत तयार होतो. आणि रब्बी ज्वारीच्या इतर वाणांपेक्षा या वाणापासून धान्य आणि कडब्याच उत्पादनही जास्त मिळतं.

Rabi sorghum is cultivated on 48 percent of medium land in dryland areas in Maharashtra. Considering this area, Sorghum Improvement Project of Mahatma Phule Agricultural University has developed a high yielding variety 'Phule Suchitra' for medium land. This variety matures in 120-125 days. And the grain and dry fodder yield of this variety is higher than other varieties of Rabi sorghum.
