After climbing towards 30 years of service, the City of McKinney opted to switch refuse collection providers from Waste Connections to Frontier Waste Solutions. This compilation depicts the main trucks that are assigned to McKinney’s residential trash/recycling/yard waste routes every day.

I’ve been wanting to make some sort of remarkable video from my local WC yard for the longest time, and I’d say this cart transition period was the perfect time to do so. Formerly known as Progressive Waste, and before that IESI, their presence in McKinney has always been truly special to me since I was much younger. Aside from watching their growth as one company undergoing multiple rebrands, the carts in McKinney have definitely stood the test of time. Some of the oldest IESI Rehrig carts were rolled out in the early 90s, with many variations of city-designated carts coming along shortly after.

Even though WC will still have their location in McKinney and service various communities around the city, the saddest part of the contract with Frontier was that of course, it was time to start on a clean slate. Unfortunately, that meant no more interesting cart variety. At the end you’ll see photos of the holding site for the old/new carts, as well as Caesar (from strategic cart management) demonstrating his forklift in sizzling 100+ degree heat. In the end, the WC carts will be distributed to other yards across Texas, while anything with a different company branding will be recycled and processed into reusable plastic.

Thanks a million to all the friendly Waste Connections drivers and helpers I’ve encountered to make this video possible!

Some of these trucks were recorded alongside my buddy Ryan ( ‪@ntxtrash‬ ). Check out his channel for more fantastic stuff!
