Just before Noon on Thursday September 17, Box 5146 was transmitted for 440 Harrison Street for a house fire.

Battalion Chief 1 (Williams) struck out the second alarm for heavy fire in a 2.5 story E/O/R (End-of-Row). Firefighters found a victim on the second floor and rescued him via a ground ladder. The male was rushed to an area hospital by Allentown E.M.S.

As the fire extended to exposure 4, the 3rd alarm was struck. Firefighters now were battling the fire in the main fire building and the exposure. As the fire reached exposure 4A, the chief special-called 3 Engines from Lehigh County, Emmaus, Eastern Salisbury and Whitehall.

Allentown Reserve Engine 5 was placed into service with 3 firefighters and brought to the fire scene.
