If you've been following me for a while, you KNOW I'm a HUGE fan of the original 1950 Cinderella. The Disney Magic in that film was DEFINITELY "magic-ing"! Fast forward to the 2010s, Lily James got the honor of playing one of the top most iconic Disney princesses of all time - Cinderella. This 2015 live action remake is similar to Disney's other remake in the sense that they tried to "correct" a lot of the "problems" that critics and complainers took issue with. It differs, however, in the sense that Cinderella doesn't feel overbearing with its changes and actually tries to be creative and do its own thing.

This video is sort of a review of the film, but more importantly, I discuss how Disney gave us more in this remake but fail to deliver the iconic feels of the original film. One of their biggest mistakes was omitting every song from the original soundtrack. Speaking for myself, I feel hopeful after watching the original 1950 Cinderella. I left this remake feeling... we'll... not insulted by Disney's usual shenanigans when they release remakes. While I commend them for their creativity and nuance in some aspects, overall, the film didn't quite have the overarching spirit of the original. Plus, in this version, Cinderella is not even a dreamer anymore! She went from believing in dreams in the original to essentially believing in a house and kindness. I resonate with the message of believing in your dreams. Cinderella's castle is a symbol of dreams coming true! I do believe that dreams come true!
