Trucks that move our goods around account for nearly a third of road transport emissions, and yet emission-free electric trucks, with heavy batteries and long recharging times, are not economically viable for transport operators.

Libertine is developing clean power generation technology that works together with batteries to make low carbon electric trucks more economically attractive to transport operators.

Our Linear Generator technology allows for efficient and clean power generation from renewable fuels, and is designed to be easily included in electric vehicle powertrains.

A Linear Generator has the crankshaft replaced by software controlled electrical machines to govern piston motion and optimise the combustion process.

Linear Generators can make better use of renewable fuels like bioethanol, biogas, green methanol and green hydrogen, and can be used in a wide range of vehicles, including trucks and buses.

Linear Generators are already used in distributed power applications, where they have shown to be far more efficient than conventional engines, with fewer harmful emissions.

Linear Generators combine the efficiency and low emissions of fuel cells with the low cost and durability of conventional engines, as well as providing the flexibility to use today’s existing fuels as well as the fossil free fuels of the future.
