A Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Softail Motorcycles. In 1984 Harley-Davidson rolled out the first ever FXST Softail. The history of how that came to be following the AMF years is interesting because of how critical this new frame was to the future success of the company. The Softail was a solution to creating a frame that had suspension in the rear-end while preserving the hard-tail "look" of the motorcycle. After suitable engineering was acquired the Softail went into production and many famous motorcycle have been produced on this frame. Bikes like the Fat Boy, Breakout, Heritage Softail, etc. Many of the most famous models in Harley-Davidson's lineup have been built on the back of the Softail chassis. Matt counts down his top 10 Softails of all time and his top 3 worst!
