A GORGEOUS DAY IN WINDSOR NOVA SCOTIA.

It was a bit chilly yesterday but that didn't stop us from taking a quick trip to Windsor. Although it is only 20 minutes from Kentville and only 40 minutes to Halifax I haven't visited in ages.

And I was missing out! The sun came out and we had a fantastic day exploring the downtown area and all the small businesses and art work.

Here were some of the highlights.

T.A.N. Coffee - Windsor I love this network of coffee shops. TAN means "the alternative network" and are owner-operated, micro roasters. They provide ethically-sourced and superior grade fair trade products.

I know it's easy to go through a chain drive through but PLEASE consider buying coffee from our local shops. It's rarely much more money and they need our support more than ever.

Sequels Boutique is a great consignment shop under new management as of Nov 2nd.

It has both new and consignment clothing and their Facebook page posts new items that come in. In December they are also going to host local artisans - perfect time to shop local!

Spitfire Arms Alehouse is absolutely a local favourite. This British pub serves a popular Birmingham Curry, but I had to go for the fish and chips which I've already had and knew it was great. Local beer is also on tap including the Meander River Farm & Brewery Ashdale Honey Brown.

Our Mother's Keepers - Local and Imported Goods is another great spot for unique gifts, including those made from recycled good and with many items going to support worthy causes.

Schoolhouse Brewery wasn't new to me but I wanted to go back! The sunshine pours into the tasting room and it was so welcomed! Service there is so friendly...even to tell you nicely that you forgot to put your mask on (whoops, sorry!) And I had a flight which included the Pumpkin Paddler, which was rimmed with sugar and tasted like a beer pie. Next time I'm coming back to eat!

Lisa's Cafe had a line out the door for lunch so we waited until later in the day for tea and a dessert. While I heard the butterscotch pie is fanastic, I'm a cheesecake kind of girl and the turtle cheesecake was too tempting. I love that they give you a teapot with a tealight underneath so it stays hot.
I've heard the haddock tips are also fantastic.

On the way home we stopped at Falmouth Fruit & Vegetable Company which is always SO busy in the summer but is more comfortable now, the pies looked delicious but after my cheesecake rush I decided to get their homemade brown bread.

I'm a Canadian travel blogger at home for the summer and autumn. But I'm making the most of my time by traveling Atlantic Canada.

This video is in partnership with Nova Scotia Tourism Association to inspire local travel in the wonderful towns in we often overlook.
