Mike Brown of the American Top Team is one of the elite coaches in mixed martial arts, and one of his best pupils is top UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier. They began to work together in 2012 and Brown said the difference in Poirier is "night and day" between now and then.

Poirier, coming off of an impressive KO of Benoit Saint Denis at UFC 299, challenges lightweight champion Islam Makhachev for the title in the main event Saturday of UFC 302 at The Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

Brown praises Makhachev as the best active fighter in the sport, but says it would be a mistake to look past Poirier. He said that although Poirier has been saying this might be his final fight, he's not concerned because Poirier has been saying that for a while.
