Lokmanya Tilak, was called as the father of the Indian unrest by the Britishers against whom he was fighting. After the failure of the first war of independence in 1857 the Indian mind had accepted the British Supremacy over them. The educated class had begin serving the British civil service and those leaning towards Martial side had joined the British army. It was in these times, a young patriot in Pune, inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj demanded Swaraj. But Tilak knew, that to attain Swaraj seeds of nationalism have to be sowed in the minds of the Indian people.

In the recent past, some great personalities of our country's history have started to vanish from the public discourse. These personalities have probably become irrelevant for the politics of today's age so the political leaders do not speak about them, the media which is quite busy in setting their own narratives have no time to remember them, the syllabus that is taught in our schools Does not give full justice to the contributions these people have made for this Nation. Also sadly, not much content is available about these people on the new age internet platforms. And as time goes by, we tend to forget these people. Sadly, this is what I think is happening with Lokmanya Tilak.

Do you also think that certain legends are disappearing from Indian minds? post in the comments section the names of such personalities...
