Next, I took out the distributor, checked all of the components, cleaned, it, and re-installed.

My intention with the car is to disturb as little as possible, while doing the work that we have to do in order to get the car running and driving again. Pulling the distributor didn't REALLY need to happen, but I did it for safety's sake. In my collection of used E-Type parts, I have run across many distributors in the past that were really seized up, and I didn't want that to cause a problem here. We also needed to make sure everything inside was working properly, and it's really tucked down in there when installed.

So I pulled it out, disassembled it, cleaned all the components, and then re-assembled with new points, rotor, and condensor - making sure along the way that everything worked smoothly.

This video gives you a REALLY good look at the original distributor, and I must say that it is a pretty straightforward little unit that is well built and works very well when properly maintained. Hope this helps you with your E-Type! - Chuck
