This is the sixth tutorial in a series that show how to convert a car game made for the Blender game engine so that it will play in a web browser (using Blend4web).

The original game consisted of a car driving into spinning gemstones to score points, avoiding obstacles that reduce health.

The next few tutorials, including this one, will look at improving the appearance of the game.

This tutorial will look at shadows. The objects in the scene will be set to cast shadows and the ground plane will be set to receive shadows.

At the start the lamp is of type Point. Objects not close to the beam of the lamp have their shadows clipped. Changing the lamp type to Hemi, cures the problem.

The default settings give sharp, hard shadows. To make the shadows more blurry the Resolution setting was reduced and the Blur Radius setting was increased.

The shadows are very dark, to make them lighter the energy of environmental lighting is increased and the energy of the lamp is decreased.
