Michael Halvorson, Chief Engineer of the Alabama CubeSat Initiative, has been working to deploy BFO as a top-level ontology for systems engineering within the framework of the Industrial Ontologies Foundry. In the course of this work he has identified a number of seemingly problematic features of BFO, which are addressed in this debate.
