This is the final video in a series focusing on the biology and treatment of breast cancer.

Adaptive therapy presents a different way forward for cancer treatment. One of the challenges with traditional treatments is that they can sometimes result in the proliferation of chemotherapy-resistant and radiation-resistant cancer cells. These cells can re-grow into a new tumor. This resurgence cancer is incredibly difficulty to treat. Adaptive therapy is focused on managing, rather than removing, a tumor. Chemotherapy-resistant and radiation-resistant cancer cells are kept in check by the other cells in the tumor. As long as the tumor is not growing, or in danger of becomign metastatic, there is some rationale in leaving it in place (with appropriate monitoring). This video explores the theoretical underpinnings of adaptive therapy and explains how evolution plays a role in cancer resurgence.
