Chu Jian (Chu Mulan) and Au Ho-Nien, the couple both were students of Art Master Zhao Shao Ang of the Lingnan School. They later became important figures in promoting the art of the Lingnan School. Thanks to the generosity of their son, David Au, we can view five of rare photographs and eight of never shown paintings. Two photos are Mulan with Mr. and Mrs. Zhao Shao Ang and three photos are the former President of ROC Chiang Ching-kuo watching Mulan paints on a ceramic vase at the ceramic kiln factory in Kinmen island. In addition, David also provided six paintings by Mulan and two joint paintings by Mulan and Ho-Nien. I analyzed several pieces of information and concluded that Ambassador Drumright have met Zhao Shao'ang in Chongqing in 1941, and found two of Zhao's paintings in two museums in San Diego.
One correction: Mulan had joint exhibitions about thirty times before 1983, not "since" 1983.
According to David Au, Mulan's son, her English name is Rose Moo-lan Chu. Also name as Chu Jian.
