No SATs, GCSEs or A levels for our locomotives, but they’ve still got to go through their paces on a regular basis to make sure they’re in good, safe working order. At our Bridgnorth motive power department, it’s that time of year again, and many of our steam locos are being prepped for their annual boiler exams. Getting them ready is a painstaking and at times a dirty old business, as you’re about to discover in our film. But it’s all part of what it takes to keep heritage steam engines in the pink. Join Will Marsh, Gary Williams and Steve Llewelyn for a tour around 1501, where they’re reaching parts you wouldn’t normally get a chance to see.
