While wondering around in the Western plains area of Utah, I stumbled upon the two parts of a metal box. The thing that caught my attention was the hole pattern on the bottom half of the box. Intrigued, I brought it home, restored (using the term loosely) it and tried to find some information on it. I managed to assemble it, but I have had no luck determining what it was originally used for.

It was found in an area that had a few historically significant events. The pony express operated (1860 - 1861) not far from where it was found. There was also a rail line in that area (1882 - 1927). And a military fort was not too far away. But, then again it could have come from an old cowboy running cattle in the area. So, long story short... If you know what it is, please leave a comment.
