I had performed a transmission service (replace transmission fluid filter and fluid in the transmission fluid pan) on my truck last year but I suspect the previous owner’s did not do this work regularly. So I want to replace more of the transmission fluid with new stuff.

My 2013 Chevrolet Silverado uses Dexron-VI automatic transmission fluid and I have a jug by AC Delco. This should be the same process on a GMC Sierra and probably many other truck models with a dipstick tube.

I’m also doing this with a manual siphon/transfer pump and siphoning the fluid from the pan through the transmission dipstick hole so I do not have to drop the transmission fluid pan to get the existing fluid out.

The manual siphon/transfer pump was from Amazon and cost me under $20 CAD.

Total time was less than one hour and it didn’t a mess at all!
