This is my simplest version of asian beef bone soup and does not require any store bought soup spice mix or bouquet garni ( sup bunjut ). All you need are cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and star anise.

The secret to making a good soup is to ensure your onions are well cooked before adding the meat and water.

Making soup takes time to produce a good end result, therefore patience is needed.
