I am a great fan of the designs of Martin guitars from the late 19th century until the 1929/30 period when they modified their designs to 14 fret "rhythm" instruments.
I prefer the 12 fret originals due to my need for the wider fretboards, but they do have other ergonomic advantages.
Here I compare with a Martin 00 design built by Collings in the USA and by Eastman in China. Which one do you prefer tonally ?
Please bear in mind that the x40 style "bling" on the Eastman indicates their top of the line which is very carefully, and lightly built, and the Collings built in 1998, is a relatively early model for them.
