Following the celebration of its 1,000th Grand Prix and season in 2023, MotoGP will commemorate its 75th birthday later in 2024. Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati will be defending the world title for a second consecutive year, while Marc Marquez will be competing in his debut race away from Honda.

Despite missing the podium in the Sunday race for the first time this season, Jorge Marteen maintained his lead in points going into the third round of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship. Enea Bastianini moved up to second in the championship with his second straight podium, while Brad Binder dropped from second to sixth after a challenging weekend for him. Maverick Vinales improved his position in the standings with his two victories.
