After Xabi Alonso announced that he would stay at Bayer for the next season, the issue of Liverpool's new coach was reignited.

Given that Ruben returned from London empty-handed and no details about the negotiations between West Ham and the coach appeared later, this maneuver could be seen as a way of putting pressure on Liverpool.

It could be read as follows: "If you want me, let's move faster, otherwise I will choose another club. You see, everyone is interested in me and I'm even traveling for negotiations."

That was a mistake.

After such a move, Liverpool immediately rejected Amorim and withdrew from the negotiations. Firstly, the Reds' director of football Michael Edwards is considered one of the best executives in the world, and it is impossible to beat him in these games.

And secondly, Liverpool will refuse a player or coach 10 times out of 10 if the club is blackmailed. The Merseysiders have always put their values first.

In the end, Amorim himself admitted that this trip to negotiate with West Ham was wrong, though it was too late: It was a mistake, the timing was completely wrong, – the Sporting coach said.

After this story, Liverpool finally switched to other options and quickly found a solution. This solution was Arne Slot from Feyenoord.

They both took clubs with the third largest budget in their leagues and won the championship. Of course, we're talking about Sporting in the Portuguese league, where Porto and Benfica dominate, and Feyenoord in the Dutch league, where Ajax and PSV dominate.

In the Premier League, Liverpool is in roughly the same position as Sporting and Feyenoord in their respective leagues. Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United all have bigger budgets than Liverpool, which means that to compete for titles, the club need special people who can squeeze the most out of limited resources.

In addition, both coaches profess high-intensity attacking football. Liverpool are only considering such options.

David Ornstein, Fabrizio Romano, the Times and other media outlets are all unanimous in saying that an agreement has been reached between all three parties and Slot will be Liverpool's manager.

The Reds will pay 9 million euros for the coach + 2 million in possible bonuses. Together with the assistants that Arne will bring along, the amount of compensation may reach about 13 million euros.
