Tari Yapong (Yapong dance)
Performance of the gamelan Gong Wisnu Wara, established in Rome by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia to the Holy See in February 2005. Its aim is to promote the knowledge of Indonesian culture and performing arts in Italy. Formed by Italian and Indonesian musicians, it was then directed by the artist in residence Widodo Kusnantyo, from Yogyakarta. Yapong is a modern dance created by Bagong Kussudiardja that takes up, in an academic form, some movements of folk dances in the region of Jakarta, and intends to describe grace and femininity in dance.
Concert held within the project ‘Music from southeast Asia’ organized by the Intercultural Institute for Comparative Music Studies in cooperation with Conservatorio ‘Benedetto Marcello’, Venice, and Teatro Fondamenta Nuove

Conservatorio Benedetto Marcello, Venice, 11 May 2011.
