Mochi are small, sweet Japanese cakes made with glutinous rice flour (mochiko). They have a soft, chewy outer layer and a deliciously sticky filling made of sweetened fruit filling or ice cream.
Satisfy your sweet tooth with homemade mochi. Trust me the process is way simpler than you think. This easy mochi recipe comes together quickly with just a few ingredients.

What is mochi?
Mochi is a bun-shaped Japanese dessert made from sweet glutinous rice flour, or mochigome. It has a soft, chewy texture that is somewhat elastic. Mochi is often flavored with matcha (or green tea powder), which gives it a light green hue. Mochi sweet rice cake is found in many different sweet or savory varieties in Japanese cuisine. During the Japanese New Year, there is a tradition called Mochitsuki.

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup glutinous rice flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 cup + 1 tbsp milk
2 to 3 drops pink food color
2 tbsp oil
4 large apples
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 cup whipping cream
1/4 cup condensed milk
