Josh Heupel, head football coach at the University of Tennessee, has brought a wealth of coaching experience to the program. Before joining the Tennessee staff, Heupel served as the head coach at the University of Central Florida from 2018-2020, where he led the Knights to two American Athletic Conference championships and two appearances in the BCS-era bowl games.

Heupel led UTK to an excellent season in 2022, establishing himself as a leader on the sidelines. He played college football as a quarterback at the University of Oklahoma, where he won a national championship and was a runner-up for the Heisman Trophy. He later played professionally for several NFL and NFL Europe teams before transitioning to coaching. He has worked as an assistant coach at several colleges, including Oklahoma, Utah State, and Missouri. He was the offensive coordinator and helped guide the Tigers to an SEC East Division championship in 2013.
