Nice way to not only take advantage of a scrambled defender, but also to avoid taking a “long 2” - the least efficient shot in basketball. I’m not anti-midrange, but taking a shot 1 step inside the 3-point line IS bad shot selection.

10 years ago, this would likely be a 1 dribble pull up inside the arc. The average FG %’s of this shot vs a 1 dribble long 2 are practically identical, but the “points per shot” is NOT. Staying behind the line for your shot (or getting to the rim) yields a much higher reward compared to a 1 dribble pull up just inside the arc. It’s not even close
