DESCRIPTION -
0:06 Charcoal in a ceramic grill is always lit from above. There are various tools for this. First you've got your lighter cubes. There are different types. But you can use old cork from wine bottles, or you can use wood shaving to light it, they are easy to find for purchase. So, there are different types of lighter cubes.

What's special about brown ones or the white paraffin cubes, and how to use them correctly?

0:39 Paraffin cubes are white light cubes and are very suitable for lighting charcoal in the ceramic grill. However, you have to make sure when you unpack these and put them on the charcoal, that no pieces from the lighter cubes crumble under the charcoal because that causes the crumbs not to ignite and then stink up while the grill while it heats up, and that is very unpleasant.

1:06 Also brown lighter cubes are very good for lighting charcoal. It is important that you always set several lighter cubes next to each other. Because a single one , covered by a piece of charcoal may never ignite. Then this results in unpleasant smoke.

1:22 Another option is the hot air blower. This is a hot air blower that you cannot use to dry your hair, but just to light the charcoal. This is very fast, but it requires a power outlet so you need to have that available.

1:44 Firing up the charcoal with a hot air blower is very fast. Depending on the charcoal quality, it can go even faster or a little longer. That depends on the density of the charcoal.

You can also use a chimney starter. It's like a convection medium, in which you fill in the charcoal at the top and then light it with starter cubes.

2:06 Using a chimney starter or so-called "convection tube" works very well. Correctly burn the coal from above. This creates much less smoke. And yet the firing-up process works, that is, the hot air rises and pulls the cold air up from below like a chimney effect.

The glowing charcoal will light up the unignited charcoal in the KAMADO and then the grill is heated up.
