It takes a lot of hard work to clean up the homestead after winter! This year we have devoted at least one full day for the next several weekends to cleaning up the yard, gardens, barnyard, woods, and house so that we are ready for the craziness that ensues with the onset of spring! Things that need yearly (or more) maintenance include removing the dead trees from our woods and pasture, securing the fence and gates for the animal pasture, cleaning out all the old plant growth from the previous year, the big post-winter mucking of the stalls (it is much more frequent in the warm seasons), and generally just fixing anything else that needs it!

This video mostly occurs in one day. In fact, only the goat stall clean up was done on day one. Everything else fell on the next beautiful day! It was a crazy long day and the fire was that much more enjoyable because of it. I was excited for Mary (our goat) to give birth and I was actually hoping it would be that night. Unfortunately for me, it was! I will talk about that in detail on the next video; this one is for the joy of spring cleaning!
