On Saturday night, October 25, 1986, 11 rhythm and blues and soul vocal harmony groups of the 1950s and ‘60s performed at the Afro-American Historical and Cultural Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Nearly all of the acts- the Silhouettes, Angels/Castelles, Blue Notes, Capris, Dreamlovers, Revels, Keystoners, Majors, Tymes and Brenda and the Tabulations- were formed in the greater Philadelphia area. Only 230 tickets were available for the show, priced at $40 each. In this 4-minute film shared by Seymour Simon, Philadelphia Rhythm & Blues vocal group pioneer RENE HINTON, the original lead singer of the Capris, performs “God Only Knows” as the show finale with the entire cast. Rene was 14 years old when she recorded the song with four male neighborhood friends in 1954. At the time of this performance, she was 46.
